Sakhalin Sharks snatched victory from Dynamo-Shinnik in Minsk

On Thursday, December 1, the second game between the Sakhalin Sharks and the local club Dynamo-Shinnik took place in Minsk. The meeting ended with a strong-willed victory for the islanders with a score of 3:2 in a shootout. This was reported in the press service of the hockey club.

The coaching staff of Igor Gavrilov made major changes to the composition of the Sakhalin team after the defeat at the end of the first game in Minsk. Instead of Stanislav Pylaev, Roman Rybakov took the place at the gate. Sharks forward Alexander Morozov went to the MHL Challenge Cup in Chelyabinsk. His place in the leading link was taken by the club’s newcomer Konstantin Dochkin. Ramil Abitov and Andrey Romanchenko returned to the squad.

The match started with the advantage of the home team — Dynamo-Shinnik played well and created chances one after another. By the end of the period, the Minskers had a threefold advantage in shooting, they were not shy about the team and go into a power struggle – 16:11 in power moves became a continuation of yesterday’s aggressive game. Three seconds before the siren for the first break, the Sharks’ 19th shot on goal turned out to be a goal — Ivan Shatilo found a way for the puck to hit the target.

The Sharks needed a change in the game. For starters, move the game away from your goal. However, it was difficult to break the game without the best sniper and with a rival that was noticeably superior to them in the table. Sakhalin gradually pressed the opponent in response attacks. However, the pressure of Dynamo-Shinnik did not decrease – in one of the moments the hosts got the majority and realized it through the efforts of Yegor Klavdiev. The score became 2:0.

Sakhalin showed character and in the third period began to save the game. In the first minute of it, the Sharks got the majority and converted it in four seconds – Anton Danilov won the face-off, Pavel Kolotygin gave an assist, and Rashid Dashtemirov hit the target with a long-range shot.

Shark attacks were rare, and Dynamo-Shinnik players tried to regain the advantage. Most often, the islanders got the puck due to individual actions – an unexpected interception from Vyacheslav Perelygin at the exit from the opponent’s zone turned into an assist to Ruslan Tyutyunnikov, who threw it perfectly from the face-off circle. The score became equal – 2:2.

The Sharks fielders showed their heroism by throwing themselves under the puck and blocking shots. But the biggest role in the game fell on the shoulders of the goalkeepers – and here Roman Rybakov showed himself perfectly. He repelled 20 shots during the period, while his counterpart received only five shots, two of which turned out to be assists. In total, by the end of the third period, the Sharks goalkeeper had accumulated 47 saves.

Thanks to incredible efforts, the Sharks held on and moved the game into overtime. The teams spent five minutes in an equal game, and the Dynamo-Shinnik players even pushed the puck into the goal – though only together with Roman Rybakov and breaking the rules. Most of the “Sharks” did not convert and the game went into a shootout.

Goalkeeper Roman Rybakov added three saved bullets to 49 saves in the game, and Timofey Barsukov, Anton Danilov and Ruslan Tyutyunnikov showed 100% of their attempts. The Sakhalin Sharks won a strong-willed victory in the second game in Minsk and are returning from a 4-match away series with 5 points in their luggage.

The team has two difficult games ahead of them on home ice with rivals from St. Petersburg – on December 7 at 19:00 against SKA-1946 and on December 9 at 19:00 against MHC Dynamo St. Petersburg.
