Sakhalin Sharks lost to Mikhailov Academy for the second time

On Saturday, January 28, the Sakhalin Sharks played the final game of the January away series. The island team failed to break the winning streak of the Mikhailov Academy. This was reported in the press service of the hockey club.

The coaching staff of Igor Gavrilov made minor changes to the line-up relative to the previous meeting of the teams. Rashid Dashtemirov and Ilya Koval returned to the squad after disqualification. The young forwards Artem Eremin and Timofey Timokhin, as well as the defender Ruslan Opotsky, missed the match, but his partner Sergey Dmitriev appeared on the ice.

“Mikhailov’s Academy” gathered in the stands twice as many spectators as yesterday, and powerfully started the game – from 3:0 already in the first period. The Sakhalin team was summed up by removals. Two violations of the rules were embodied in two washers. Between them fit a goal in the attack, where the defense of the “Sharks” was literally dismantled for parts. The pucks were scored by Ivan Guskov, Konstantin Kidarov and Kirill Pukelo.

It was possible to blame goalkeeper Stanislav Pylaev for a couple of moments, but the goalkeeper of the Far East team, who played the ninth match in a row without substitutions, gathered his strength and corrected himself in the future. The Sharks themselves turned the game around in the second period. However, they managed to score only once – the captain and pupil Gleb Bondarenko gave hope to the island team. In the 26th minute, he received the puck from Danila Belov in front of the opponent’s goal and “1 on 1” dealt with the hosts’ goalkeeper Vadim Pastukh.

However, 22 shots in the second period didn’t help the Sharks close the gap even further. “Mikhailov’s Academy” defended in a disciplined manner and did not break the rules. Especially cool Tula dismantled the trio of Morozov – Danilov – Barsukov. The leading trio of “Sharks”, who are completely included in the top 10 scorers of the MHL, could not do anything at all in the games with the Mikhailov Academy.

In the third period, the hosts again came out more charged and put an end to the game. Kirill Pukelo circled the defense of the Far East with the puck across the entire zone and threw it from a distance into the “house” of the goalkeeper. The score became 4:1. In the remaining time, he did not change, despite all the efforts of the Sakhalin Sharks. The home team extended their winning streak to eight games and moved up to second place in the MHL Silver Division with 57 points.

The Sakhalin Sharks ended their away streak with six wins in eight matches. The Islanders are in sixth place in the Silver division with 46 points. Now the team is returning to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where on February 1 and 2 they will play against the SKA-Varyags team. Matches start at 19:00. Entrance to the matches is free.
