Sakhalin athletes revealed the strongest in table tennis

Regional table tennis competitions “Top-12 Tournament” among women were held in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

The title of the strongest was contested by athletes from Dolinsk, Kholmsk, Tomari and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

– The list of participants in the tournament is compiled based on the results of their performances in various competitions throughout the year. We calculate their results and form a rating. Usually we have a well-established backbone of leaders, and new athletes rarely get here, but this year two girls from Dolinsk, born in 2008 and 2010, got into the top at once. This suggests that serious competition is growing for older athletes, – Nikolai Udartsev, chief judge of the competition, shared the details.

Competitions were held in the sports complex “Gidrostroy” for two days. Athletes had to play in a round robin system.

– I played table tennis as a child, but gave up and went to another sport. I decided to return to him five years ago, since then I have been professionally training with a coach. One of the main advantages of table tennis is that there are no age restrictions, both children and adults, as well as the elderly, can come and play. He develops speed, reaction and thinking, he constantly has to think through his moves in advance and predict the tactics of his opponent, – said the athlete from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Evgenia Bogdanova. – I am in the top 12 for the third time, and every year the level of participants is growing, but I also try not to relax and work on myself.

According to the results of the competition, the first place in the top 12 was taken by Ekaterina Kosvintseva from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The second was another representative of the regional center Veronica Kan. The top three was closed by the Dolinsk athlete Elizaveta Ryzhkova.
