The Ryazan team of football players with Down syndrome became the silver medalist of the All-Russian Special Olympics. This was reported in the press service of the regional Ministry of Sports.
The competitions were held from October 30 to November 3 in St. Petersburg. The Ryazan football team “Kind Hearts” consisting of six people took second place in futsal among teams of people with Down syndrome.
“Over the four years of our team’s existence, this is the third tournament in which we were lucky to participate. At the first competitions, we stopped a step away from the podium. On the second team participated without two main players. And finally, the guys can rejoice at well-deserved medals! The opponents were quite equal in strength, the struggle was for every ball until the last seconds, all the players clearly fulfilled the tasks assigned to them and showed a good level of play,” said the team’s coach Sergei Zharikov.
