Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov will meet with new US Ambassador to Moscow Lynn Tracy early next week. About this diplomat told in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“Any ambassador arriving at the duty station, after a certain period, in order to, as they say, look around and resolve the priority issues of his further stay at the duty station, as an act that allows him to take up his duties, transfers copies of his credentials to the country’s Foreign Ministry stay,” Ryabkov said.
The diplomat noted that his meeting with Tracy will take place early next week. It will host the transfer of copies of credentials.
On the eve of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told Vedomosti about the planned meeting between Ryabkov and Tacy. The diplomat added that “against the background of a hybrid war” between the United States and Russia, there is no talk of improving relations between the two countries now. Zakharova also expressed the hope that Tracy would take into account the mistakes of her predecessors, and advised her “not to slide into messianism and mentoring habits.”
Lynn Tracy arrived to Moscow on January 26. Her candidacy, nominated by US President Joe Biden, was supported by the US Senate in December 2022. Previously, the diplomat had already worked in Russia as a deputy ambassador to Moscow. Tracy will be the first woman to serve as US Ambassador to Russia. The Russian side agreed to this appointment.
