Russia’s only tank manufacturer Uralvagonzavod will employ 250 convicts

Uralvagonzavod (UVZ, part of Rostec) will employ 250 convicts sentenced to forced labor serving sentences in Nizhny Tagil. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Sverdlovsk Region on the page in “In contact with”. The convicts will work in the following specialties: CNC machine operator, driller, turner, miller, grinder, electric welder on automatic and semi-automatic machines, mechanical assembly fitter, crane operator.
“In the UFITS (correctional centers.— “b”) only convicts are sent who have embarked on the path of correction, who have no violations, who want to be released as soon as possible and reunite with their families, ”specified the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service. They noted that the convicts live in dormitories equipped with the necessary equipment, and run the household themselves.
The Uralvagonzavod Concern is Russia’s largest developer and manufacturer of armored weapons and equipment, as well as freight rolling stock. The parent company is located in Nizhny Tagil (Sverdlovsk region). It unites more than 40 enterprises, design bureaus, research institutes in Russia and abroad. Included in the state corporation “Rostec”. It develops and produces tanks, wagons, armored vehicles, metal-cutting tools and non-standardized equipment. According to site Rostec, UVZ is the only manufacturer of tanks for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Recall that in October, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, conducted a control check of the production of tanks at Uralvagonzavod. Following its results, Mr. Medvedev announced an increase in the production of weapons and special equipment in all areas. In November, Uralvagonzavod registered two new trademarks – “Breakthrough” and “Terminator”, under these names the T-90M tank and BMPT (tank support fighting vehicle) produced by UVZ are known. The equipment is in service with the Russian army.
There are three correctional centers in the Sverdlovsk region – in the village of Reshety, in Nizhny Tagil and in Verkhnyaya Tura. To date, 209 convicts sentenced to forced labor are serving sentences in the correctional centers of the Sverdlovsk region.
