Professor Leonid Stavnitser, Russia’s most famous specialist in the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings, died on Thursday evening in Moscow.
As it became known to MK, the 87-year-old doctor of technical sciences died in his apartment on Zemlyanoy Val Street. Recently, the scientist was seriously ill, a nurse took care of him. For many years, Stavnitser headed the laboratory of earthquake-resistant construction at the Research Institute of Foundations and Underground Structures. It was according to his monograph “Seismic stability of foundations and foundations” that all buildings in seismically dangerous regions of the country were erected.
