Russia’s international reserves fell to $565 billion in August

Due to Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Western countries have frozen the reserves of the Russian Central Bank. In the European Union, assets worth $24.5 billion (23 billion euros) were frozen, which accounted for approximately 10% of the total number of international assets of the Russian Federation, said EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders. In addition, he said, in the United States there are international reserves of the Russian Federation in the amount of $100 billion.
International reserves are at the disposal of the Central Bank and the Russian government, they are highly liquid assets. International reserves are made up of foreign currency assets, monetary gold, as well as special drawing rights, a reserve position in the IMF and other reserve assets.
