Russians with a Schengen visa warned of an unpleasant surprise when entering the EU

EU representative for foreign affairs and security policy Josep Borrell said that Russians with a Schengen visa may not enter the EU.
The head of European diplomacy noted that the “Schengen” itself is only a precondition for entry into the territory of the European Union, but there is no guarantee that a tourist will be able to enter a particular country of association.
Borrell also stressed that EU countries should ensure control of their borders and all those entering.
“Having a visa is not a guarantee that a Russian tourist will enter a particular country,” he said.
Earlier, the European Union was unable to agree on a general restriction on the issuance of visas to Russians. Nevertheless, some EU countries that border Russia (Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia) have announced their intention to unilaterally ban Russian tourists from entering.
