In Russia, liability for concealing license plates will be tightened
REN TV reported that Russia may tighten penalties for hiding license plates on cars. We are talking about those drivers who use “flip frames” to avoid a fine.
It is clarified that at the moment, despite the ban on such devices, the demand for them is growing. In particular, drivers use various devices to hide license plates in order to cross a double line or drive along a “separate lane.”
For driving without a registration number, a fine of five thousand rubles or deprivation of rights from one to three months is imposed. Such measures do not greatly frighten violators. The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in turn, proposed to tighten the punishment and increase the period of deprivation of rights to one and a half years.
“The devices will need to be confiscated. Among other things, administrative liability is being introduced for the repeated commission of other unlawful acts provided for in Part 2 of Article 12.2 in the form of deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle for a period of one to one and a half years,” the TV channel noted.
