The Telegram administration is introducing a new function for users from Russia in connection with the mass sending by attackers of messages calling for terrorist attacks. The creator of the messenger, Pavel Durov, spoke about this on Thursday, March 28.

As Durov explained, from April 1, users from Russia, as well as from Belarus and Ukraine, will have the opportunity to limit the circle of people who can send them personal messages.

Along with this, the Telegram administration is introducing new solutions based on artificial intelligence to filter such spam even more effectively.

Durov explained these steps by numerous complaints from Russian-speaking users about messages calling for terrorist attacks after a similar crime was committed in the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow.

Earlier it was reported that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Crocus were searched for and recruited through Telegram. In particular, with one of the criminals who shot people I met a certain Abdullah in the messengerwho promised to pay half a million rubles for the mass murder of people in a concert hall.

On the afternoon of March 28 it became known that Roskomnadzor blocked 11 Telegram channels, which allegedly announced new terrorist attacks in Russia. The department emphasized that they are actively working to identify fakes and calls on the Internet for extremist activities and acts of terrorism.
