Russians were told how to avoid seizure of personal belongings in the EU

Lawyer, specialist in civil and international law Maria Yarmush on air radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda” told how Russian residents can avoid having their personal belongings confiscated in EU countries.
She noted that the Russian Federation cannot import certain goods, such as cars, appliances and toilet paper, under a law passed in 2014. This year, an official from Germany regarded the entry of a car with a Russian license plate as an import. Because of this, a car was seized from a Russian living in Germany, but later the court returned it to the owner.
Yarmush noted that this story served as an excellent pretext for an attack on all Russian citizens living or visiting countries of the European Union. The lawyer claims that such actions by officials are “absolutely Russophobic” and they decided to use the sanctions law against citizens of the Russian Federation.
According to Yarmush, now Russians who visit the EU for personal or business matters are prohibited from taking with them laptops, smartphones, leather or fur products and other items that are considered illegal, according to the EC’s clarification.
The lawyer warns that Russian citizens may face real prison sentences for attempting to smuggle items on the prohibited list.
Therefore, as Yarmush noted, “now all Russians need to understand: if they are going to the EU, then they need to take with them not a suitcase, but some kind of rag bag,” and put on “strictly some kind of down jackets,” but do not wear leather, “some semi-precious, precious stones.”
That is, you need, according to the lawyer, “to travel in everything that is not prohibited by these laws.”
At the same time, she noted that “if someone takes with them cosmetics or perfume, or some kind of watch, or some kind of earrings, then it will all be taken away at customs.” But in case “if you manage to somehow introduce it secretly, you can get a prison sentence.”
