On February 14, 1918, the Gregorian calendar, known as the “new” style, was introduced in Russia. Meteorologist Mikhail Leus reminded Russians of this in his Telegram channel.
According to the decree of the Council of People’s Commissars of the RSFSR dated January 24, 1918, the Gregorian calendar was introduced, which required a correction of 13 days. Thus, after January 31, 1918, February 14 immediately began in Russia, and the period from February 1 to February 13, 1918 was excluded from the Russian calendar.
In the practice of dating events, all events and documents relating to the period before February 1, 1918 are dated according to the Julian calendar (“old” style), and starting from February 1, 1918 – according to the Gregorian calendar (“new” style). The primary date may be accompanied by a second style date, which is placed nearby in parentheses.
