The State Duma proposed allowing maternal capital to be spent on treating children and purchasing expensive medications for them. The corresponding initiative was made by the chairman of the lower house of parliament committee on labor, social policy and veterans’ affairs, Yaroslavn Nilov. He said this in an exclusive interview “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
He also expressed the opinion that it is necessary to allow the use of maternal capital funds for the rehabilitation of disabled children in private institutions without state accreditation. As an example, he cited the rehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorder, which requires enormous work and large funds, including in commercial structures. He noted that during the rehabilitation of such children, hippotherapy, that is, treatment with the help of horses, is often used.
He also proposed extending maternity capital to the purchase of domestically produced cars for large families raising disabled children.
“For them, a car is not a luxury, but an essential necessity. We will strive to make such a decision. In general, the maternity capital program needs to be extended beyond 2026,” Nilov noted.
Let us remind you that from February 1, 2024 maternity capital will be indexed to 630 thousand 400 rubles for the first child and up to 833 thousand for the second.
