The State Duma did not support the bill to shorten the working day in the heat
On Wednesday, February 14, the State Duma rejected a bill to reduce the working day during the heat. The initiative was proposed by the vice-speaker of the LDPR faction Boris Chernyshov.
According to the draft law, the employer had to reduce an employee’s working day or shift at an air temperature of 28.5 degrees by an hour. The day would have to be shortened by 2 hours if the thermometer rose from 28.6 to 29 degrees above zero, by 4 hours if the temperature was from 29.1 degrees.
In November 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers considered the bill submitted to the lower house of parliament to be excessive. The government explained that today the issue of organizing work in conditions of extreme temperatures has been resolved. As a result, the relevant State Duma committee refused to support the initiative.
