IT specialist warned Russians about scammers offering to evaluate hotels on Booking
Fraudsters have appeared on the network offering Internet users to evaluate hotels in the Booking.com online booking service for a fee. This was told by the head of the Endpoint component of the R-Vision EVO ecosystem Petr Kutsenko.
“Despite the fact that Booking has suspended work in Russia, attackers use the service as bait,” said the expert quoted by Izvestia.
According to him, “when clicking on an ad in messengers, the topic is adjusted – the user is offered to help online stores in sales.”
For a fee, according to Kutsenko, the scammers offer to perform several tasks. In particular, “like certain products on the seller’s website.”
According to the publication, the attackers claim that they are ready to pay up to 8,000 rubles a day for people to allegedly evaluate hotels on Booking and goods in the DNS electronics store.
They explain to the victims that they need to increase the popularity of the store, tell more people about the goods they sell.
“As the next tasks, gullible people are offered to open a wallet on a third-party service, transfer money there and redeem these goods from it,” Kutsenko continues. “They promise to return the spent amount with interest.”
At the same time, as he stressed, the purchase of goods is a fraud, and “the new” employee “is simply deprived of his money.”
