Russians may increase the fee for issuing foreign passports abroad

A proposal by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to index fees for consular services provided to Russians at Russian missions abroad was published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts. This includes obtaining a foreign passport.
The cost of issuing a regular international passport valid for 5 years is proposed to be increased from 30 to 35 US dollars, and a biometric passport (valid for 10 years) – from 80 to 90 US dollars. According to the document, issuing a passport for citizens under 14 years of age may rise in price from 10 to 15 dollars for a regular passport, from 40 to 50 dollars for a biometric one.
For filing an application for renunciation of Russian citizenship in a general and simplified manner, it is proposed to charge 130 US dollars. The service currently costs $65.
The size of the current fee rates has not been indexed since their approval by a decree of the Russian government in 2010, according to the explanatory note to the document.
