Khinshtein proposed allowing the Russian Guard to recruit volunteers – Kommersant

The head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, announced the imminent introduction of a package of bills that would allow the Russian Guard to include volunteer formations. Mr. Khinshtein noted that the prepared bills have “nothing in common with the rumors that have appeared recently about the transfer of former units of the Wagner PMC to the Russian Guard.”

“According to one of the bills, volunteer formations will be able to be created by the Russian Guard by decision of the president. They can be involved in carrying out individual tasks in the field of defense during the period of mobilization, martial law, in conditions of armed conflict, during the conduct of counter-terrorism operations,” the deputy wrote in his Telegram channel.

As for the PMC fighters, according to the deputy, there are no plans to integrate them into the Russian Guard. “The bills do not provide for the possibility of including any organizations in the volunteer formations of the Russian Guard: contracts are proposed to be concluded exclusively with citizens,” the parliamentarian added and noted that the documents were developed by a group of deputies and senators.

There is no information yet about the introduction of bills into the database of the lower house of parliament. August 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law that gives the Russian National Guard the right to have heavy military equipment, including tanks, in its arsenal.
