Russians choose remote work – Kommersant FM

“Kommersant FM” got acquainted with the research data of the portal “Rabota.ru” and found out that administrator, sales manager and call center operator were among the most popular vacancies. Job seekers responded most often to advertisements from the business services sector; the transport industry also turned out to be popular, where they were looking for drivers and couriers-packers. In third place by the number of responses is the direction of retail trade with vacancies for a salesperson, cashier and merchandiser.

At the same time, the recruiting market in 2023 faced a general reduction in the number of candidates; the number of applicants compared to 2022 increased only in the fields of finance, insurance and construction. Deputy General Director of the Rabota.ru portal Alexander Veterkov also noted that Russians in 2023 began to refuse received offers much more often:

“If we talk about popularity, then in the first place are vacancies that do not require special skills, but at the same time provide remote work – this is the field of business services.

People are either looking for their main job, when certain skills are not required, or for a part-time job. The second is transport and logistics. Retail trade is in third place. Probably, the statistics from the point of view of the increase in the number of candidates are also interesting. Compared to 2022, most industries either maintain the same number of candidates or decrease. At the same time, there are the industries “Finance and Insurance” and “Construction”, where the number of applicants in 2023 increased compared to previous periods.

At the same time, a large shortage of personnel is felt in production and the agricultural industry, in second place is the IT segment, followed by medicine and education, plus construction will join them. In addition, an unexpected trend in the past year is probably that candidates are choosing a new job more specifically, and even with an increase in income of 15-20%, they remain with their current employer. That is, in order to attract an applicant with salary alone, its increase must be at least 30%, which is quite difficult for the unit economy of most enterprises.

Since candidates have felt that the market is now theirs, they can choose, and the level of interaction with employers has decreased significantly. This is expressed in the dialogues of recruiters with applicants: they simply hang up and refuse offers. If previously eight out of ten job offers were accepted, now five are accepted.”

Experts from the Hh.ru service also compiled a rating of the most in-demand vacancies. The position of online store administrator came in first place, with almost 38,000 responses. The top three positions included vacancies for a Yandex Taxi service dispatcher and a tourism manager.

What explains this interest in remote work? General Director of the ProPersonnel recruitment agency Tatyana Dolyakova believes that such vacancies are especially attractive to residents of the regions: “In fact, in 2023 we saw great demand for the remote format, because candidates do not want to work hard and return to offices. Therefore, many job seekers, especially young people, are considering remote work. Moreover, it allows you to combine several companies, you can work on several projects and in total have the same salary, and maybe even higher compared to office employment. This is especially true in the service sector.

If you look at the national scale, the advantage of remote work is that an employee can be located anywhere in Russia, in the Urals or Siberia, where the average salary is 20-30 thousand rubles. And if, let’s say, a company in the capital is looking for workers and allows you to work remotely, then you get a Moscow salary, that is, very comfortable conditions.

In addition, if previously young people were mainly interested in remote work and part-time work, now we see that people who are older and have work experience do not want to return to offices. Job seekers choose this kind of work-life balance for themselves.

In general, it seems to me that Russia is becoming a country that provides services, that is, there are a lot of vacancies in this area. Unfortunately, there is less emphasis on production and industry, although, of course, it is necessary to balance and make such professions popular through the state program.

The state should talk, notify, and advertise as much as possible that there are other professions. On the other hand, of course, the employer now, from the ninth grade, takes children to his production, to the industry so that they get acquainted with the enterprise.”

Among the rare vacancies that turned out to be in demand among Russians in 2023, Hh.ru analysts noted the positions of a film actress, an author of texts on the topics of raising children, a manager for working with bloggers, and an artificial intelligence chat tester.
