Russians are not ready to abandon the celebration of the New Year because of the SVO

VTsIOM interrogated Russians about their attitude to New Year’s events against the backdrop of a special military operation. About 96% of respondents believe that children’s holidays and New Year trees should be preserved. 89% of respondents stated the need to install festive fir trees in squares and streets. Every third (34%) noted that jewelry should be more modest.

More than half of the respondents (54%) are sure that fireworks and salutes should be abandoned. 44% want to keep them.

81% of respondents believe that it is necessary to keep the New Year holidays for children in the usual format. Another 15% voted to keep them in a more modest form. Only 3% of respondents were in favor of abandoning children’s holidays. Another 1% of participants found it difficult to answer.

70% of respondents are ready to generally support the festive decoration of cities, provided that the authorities refuse to purchase new illuminations and decorations.

In addition, the Russians approved the holding of such festive events as Santa Clauses and Snow Maidens visiting the families of SVO participants (94%), collecting and sending greeting cards from the families of the mobilized (87%) to the front line, congratulating the wounded in hospitals (87%) and others. .

Recall that the Moscow authorities are also conducting their own survey on how to celebrate the New Year in the capital. During the online voting, it is proposed to choose: to celebrate “like in previous years”, to celebrate, but without mass festivities, or not to decorate the city at all for the holidays.
