Every tenth Russian plans to go abroad for the New Year holidays, Kommersant FM was informed about this by MTS Travel, adding that we are talking exclusively about independent tourists. Most of the bookings come from Istanbul, Phuket and the CIS countries. But most often they choose Belarus, where hotels have risen in price by 40% this winter. How much does a foreign holiday cost? And where else are Russians going? Aelita Kurmukova found out.

The demand for New Year’s trips abroad this year, according to various sources, has increased by 10-20%. It is difficult to give an exact figure, since independent travelers use different services to buy tickets and book hotels. Hence the spread.

The same Istanbul can be just a stop on the route during transit, for example, for 20 hours with the opportunity to go into the city. Türkiye, the UAE and Cuba are leading in terms of tour packages this winter. Egyptian resorts, which are located just 200 km from the Israeli border, seem to be left without Russians this year, although prices there are noticeably lower.

But independent tourists choose Europe and Asia, noted PR director of the OneTwoTrip service Elena Shelekhova: “Thailand is the beach destination; most Russians go here, who issue a ticket for one person.

The average cost of a one-way ticket in December and January is about 40-50 thousand rubles. Mostly everyone flies to Phuket.

In addition, European destinations are in demand; Paris, Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Rimini are in the top. Such flights are now not entirely budget-friendly. From December 28 to January 7-8, prices will reach peak values and will be on average 50% more expensive than usual.”

The cheapest ticket Moscow-Paris on December 30 can be bought for 40 thousand rubles. in economy class without luggage. In this case, the flight will take almost a day and a half with two transfers. The price of a short route flight – just seven hours via Belgrade – starts from 100 thousand rubles. one way.

A flight to Italy on holidays will cost about the same. And this does not take into account the cost of accommodation, adds PR director of the MTC Travel service Anastasia Samoilova: “This year, in the structure of all bookings for the New Year holidays, only 10% are for foreign trips. That is, every tenth person will go somewhere outside of Russia.

As we see, most often Russians receive Schengen in Italy and France. That is why these destinations are popular.

In addition, the ruble exchange rate has become lower, so there is some increase in price; in some directions it can reach 20%.”

The map of individual travel for the New Year literally copies the places of residence of the relocants. Among the top bookings among Russians are CIS countries, where it is easier to get to and where a visa is not required. You can fly from Moscow to Tashkent on December 30 for 30 thousand rubles, but ticket prices to Tbilisi already start at 60 thousand rubles. one way.

Against the backdrop of increased demand this winter, all hoteliers in the neighboring countries have noticeably raised prices, warned the managing director of the Ostrovok group of companies, Daria Kochetkova: “Belarus has increased by 38%, the average price per night will be 9 thousand rubles. In Uzbekistan – 5.7 thousand rubles, an increase of 32%. Abkhazia has also grown by 30%, the average price of a night here is 5.2 thousand rubles. Armenia shows a smaller increase in prices; the cost of living increased by only 15%, to 6.9 thousand rubles.

Booking periods start from three nights depending on the country. Vacations can also be combined with ski resorts, for example, in Georgia, Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan.”

If the demand for foreign tours this year is already ahead of last year, bookings within the country have increased by 21%, Ms. Kochetkova emphasizes. The top 3 for the New Year holidays included Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Sochi mountain cluster, which became more expensive by 10-15%. The average hotel bill for the January weekend across the country is almost 7 thousand rubles. per day.
