Turkish media reported an outflow of Russians from Antalya due to rising property prices

Turkish media report that rising housing prices in the resort city of Antalya, popular among foreigners, has led to an outflow of foreign migrants, including Russians and Ukrainians. According to the Posta newspaper, in 2023 the number of foreign residents permanently residing here decreased by 40 thousand people.

It is reported that in 2020, 94 thousand foreign citizens resided permanently in Antalya. In 2021, an increase in the number of foreigners was recorded to 137 thousand, in 2022 – to 172 thousand. It is indicated that the increased demand for real estate from foreigners has led to a significant increase in prices.

In 2023, Turkish authorities announced stricter rules for issuing residence permits based on the acquisition of residential real estate. at the moment, the minimum cost is 200 thousand dollars (previously – 50 thousand for small towns and 75 thousand for large cities). A number of areas in the cities most popular with foreigners are closed for obtaining a residence permit.
