Russians are being pulled back – Kommersant FM

Among the reasons for returning to their previous jobs, Russians noted favorable conditions, as one in five responded. 18% voted for a comfortable schedule, slightly less for a “working environment.” 15% returned to their old place, recognizing that the salary there was higher; the same amount, noting that getting to the office is more convenient.

Every tenth person identified “interesting tasks” as an advantage, and 9% spoke about career prospects offered by their previous bosses. Only 7% of respondents returned to their old job after being laid off at a new one.

At the same time, men are more likely to return to their previous employer than women (37% versus 28%). More often than others, employees of restaurants, tourism, agriculture, marketing, advertising and PR, as well as insurance and construction were employed in the old place. However, such a return was not always associated with a promotion; only every tenth person received one. 22% of respondents returned to the same position from which they left.

President of the Kabosh group of companies Dmitry Matveev: “For us, the important factor is how the employee quit. You always need to leave gracefully: warn that you are leaving so that the company has the opportunity to find a replacement. It’s completely normal for a person to be looking for a better job.”

Founder of PR Inc. communications agency. Olga Dashevskaya: “The junior accountant, having worked in other places, returned to the position of chief accountant. The manager returned. At first he worked as a group head, the head of a project group. He left and opened his own agency. And three years later he called, said that he was tired, and asked if it was possible to return back under the wing of the company. I replied: “Great, come to the manager.” He ran the agency for several years and then simply left the profession.”

Founder of Timur Begichev’s Beauty Studio Timur Begichev: “Working behind a chair in a salon, of course, many creative people get tired and burn out. You need to understand very clearly that this happened and give the employee freedom. Our master went to a very cool salon, returned for some personal reasons, and I ended up getting an even more experienced specialist. This is a little different from personal relationships, in which we don’t step into the same water twice and don’t step on the same rake.”

Restaurateur Stanislav Lisichenko: “You cannot enter the same water twice. If a person leaves, then he must be responsible for his decision. Therefore, with a 99% probability, I would not take the employee back. This is, you know, how married couples separated, went for a walk, and then decided to get back together. It’s still a metaphor, but it’s a pretty serious thing—collaboration.”
