Russian yachting champion Vitaly Elagin got in touch eight days after his ship disappeared from radar off the coast of Chile. This was reported by the Telegram channel Mash.

He sent a signal via radio and also wrote a message to a friend with the coordinates of his location. Now the athlete is located near the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, between the Falkland Islands and the city of Rio Grande.

Previously it became knownthat Elagin went missing off the coast of Chile. The last time he was in touch was on March 19. The Russian champion set off on a trip around the world on October 1, 2023 on his yacht “Daughter of the Wind”. His route passed through the Atlantic Ocean, the Canary Islands and the Cape of Good Hope.
