After the death of her daughter due to an incorrect diagnosis, a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur won a lawsuit for almost 2 million rubles against the hospital.
According to the Amur Mash Telegram channel, 26-year-old English teacher Maria felt severe pain in her stomach after work and was hospitalized. The doctor did not notice anything critical and recommended an enema. Despite this, Maria’s mother called an ambulance, and her daughter was taken to Hospital No. 7. There they cleaned her intestines and performed an ultrasound, but found no serious problems.
The preliminary diagnosis was made as “acute intestinal obstruction”, and the young woman was admitted to a regular ward. However, two days later she died from complications caused by diabetes. Although COVID-19 was officially declared the cause of death, two examinations showed inadequate treatment. A third, forensic study confirmed the connection between inadequate care and Mary’s death.
The girl’s mother filed a claim against the hospital and was awarded 1.8 million rubles in compensation.
The hospital did not apologize.
