As Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained, the frigate will pass through the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enter the Mediterranean Sea. It was also specified that in 2021 the ship was finalized for the use of Zircon hypersonic missiles.
In mid-March, trilateral naval exercises of Russia, China and Iran were held in the Arabian Sea. At the same time, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense said that at these exercises the country would be represented by a detachment of ships from the Northern Fleet consisting of Admiral Gorshkov and Kama.
From February 17 to 26, maneuvers were also held in the coastal regions of the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal as part of joint exercises of the Russian Federation, China and South Africa. Then the ships of the Russian Northern Sea Fleet were involved, as well as three Chinese and one South African ship.
