Reuters: Several Russian tennis players have agreed to participate in Wimbledon in a neutral status
Reuters, citing the General Director of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Sally Bolton, reported that several Russian tennis players signed a declaration of neutral status to participate in Wimbledon.
The names of the athletes Bolton did not name the agency.
He noted that the players signed the declarations as soon as the announcement was made “and they can do so until the deadline for applications.” The interlocutor of the agency refused to share other details of the situation.
Wimbledon will take place in the UK from 3 to 16 July.
In 2022, tennis players from the Russian Federation and Belarus were not allowed to participate in the tournament.
Earlier, Russian tennis player Vitalia Dyachenko said that she was not allowed on the plane of the Polish airline because of her nationality when she was about to fly to the ITF tournament in Nice.
