Russian tennis player Anastasia Potapova, who is the 5th racket in Russia, announced on social media on Saturday that she would not play at the WTA tournament in Hamburg, which starts on Sunday
“I am very sorry to report, but I am forced to withdraw from Hamburg due to visa problems,” Potapova wrote.
She explained that the documents were submitted on time, but their consideration was delayed.
Potapova also wrote that last year she really enjoyed performing in Hamburg. “Hopefully I can go back there in 2024,” she wrote. The athlete added that she is making efforts to compete in the American series of competitions in Washington.
Potapova in 2022 reached the WTA-250 to the semi-finals. The current winner of the tournament is US citizen Bernarda Pera.
