A Russian Su-27 fighter escorted a German patrol aircraft over the Baltic Sea, transmits press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.
“The crew of the Russian fighter jet identified the air target as an R-3C Orion base patrol aircraft of the German Navy. After the foreign military aircraft turned away from the state border of the Russian Federation, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield,” the report says.
In January, a Su-27 fighter jet escorted a German Orion reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea after attempting to approach the country’s border. The press service also noted that no violation of the state border of Russia was allowed.
A similar incident occurred in December 2022, when a Russian MiG-31 VKS fighter escorted a R-3C Orion aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force approaching the border over the Barents Sea. The Ministry of Defense then noted that no violation of the country’s border was allowed, and the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules.
