The head of the LDPR faction Pavel Itkin replaced Marina Shishkina and became vice-speaker of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
The parliamentarian was elected to the post of vice-speaker by a majority of votes (30 out of 42), his competitor, a deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Roman Kononenko, was supported by only ten members of the Legislative Assembly.
“First of all, I would like to thank my colleagues for their trust. I believe that the appointment of a deputy chairman is not a political issue, but a working one, connected with the functioning of the legislative assembly. Everyone knows perfectly well that I can not only listen, but also hear, ”Itkin said after the vote.
Pavel Itkin was born in Leningrad in 1979 and received a higher engineering education. He has a mandate since 2019, in 2021 he was elected for a second term. At the moment, she leads the control group, and is also a member of the commission for youth policy, public associations and digitalization.
On April 5, members of the A Just Russia faction in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg announced their withdrawal from the party in full force. Marina Shishkina, who on February 1 announced her resignation from the post of head of the regional branch of Spravorossov, announced at the plenary session that she was leaving a leading position in the city parliament. As the statement says, each of the parliamentarians “joined a different party”: “socialist, social democratic, on the shield of which the main idea was social justice and big problems for small people.”
Party leader Sergei Mironov, in response to the demarche, called on the deputies to surrender their mandates.
