The Russian optical-electronic complex for detecting and measuring the parameters of the movement of space debris has opened in South Africa, it is located in Hartebishoek on the territory of the Mission Control Center of the country’s space agency (SANSA). Yury Borisov, director of the state corporation, took part in the launch ceremony of the complex.
“Borisov recalled that six years ago a project was implemented to deploy a quantum optical station with a non-request measuring system, the operation of which can significantly increase the accuracy of the satellite navigation signal. Glonass“, the message says.
The state corporation added that at present the Russian side is promoting the Milky Way project, including at the BRICS level. The project is designed to stop the threats associated with space debris, as well as asteroids and comets.
