They proposed a type of lattice, interacting with which an electron would emit a hundred times more energy than usual. “The amplification effect is achieved at certain frequencies due to the resonant interaction between lattice particles. The particles are close to each other and affect each other’s emissivity,” leading researcher Daria Sergeeva explains the new theory.

The maximum task in this case is to enhance the translucent properties of electromagnetic radiation with minimal side effects on human health. The light itself carries no energy and is not dangerous, but the charge of the electron can damage body tissue. Scientists are just closer to giving low-energy particles the radiation power of the most powerful cosmic particles.

This can be useful in many areas: in scientific research, during flaw detection in industry (for example, when diagnosing a hidden underground oil pipeline), when checking the belongings of passengers at airports and train stations for anti-terrorist purposes.

According to the researchers, there is now a request from security services to create a portable X-ray device that could be used by intelligence officials to detect prohibited items or devices while standing right in the crowd. At the same time, there will be no harm to health from such a scanner either for passengers or for the special agency employee himself.

The new method of generating radiation exists so far only in the form of a theoretical development.
