Russian sapper spoke about the killer mines of the German “Leopards”

When in the middle of spring in Kyiv they talked about the upcoming offensive, almost the main bet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was placed on the leopard tanks provided by the German side. The leadership of Ukraine, and their Western partners, had high hopes for the power of the “iron cats”.
And so the offensive began … And what did we see? Another Western “wunder-waffe” – a miracle weapon – is on fire (the same was with the “Bayraktars”, and “Haymars”, and “Patriots”). Losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in technology amount to dozens. But Kyiv continues to attack the positions of our troops over and over again.
The reliability and strength of our defensive lines are the key to another failure of the Ukrainian authorities.
A sapper of the first army corps with the call sign “Fox” in an interview with “MK” told which mines can destroy Ukrainian German tanks with a guarantee, as well as how the “smart” mines used by the enemy work.
– “Leopards” could well be blown up by anti-tank mines of pressure action TM-62, – says the officer. – Nothing complicated. Perhaps a new generation of jump-out mines were installed there. I won’t tell you their characteristics, because they are secret, but in the event of an explosion on them, the tank will definitely end.
This mine flies up fifteen meters and, falling from above, hits with a cumulative jet and pierces the tank through and through. If the tank was blown up on a conventional anti-tank mine of pressure action, then its caterpillar is interrupted at most, the skating rink and one of the balancers on which it rests can fly out.
On our domestic vehicles, such damage is repaired within an hour by the crew. With Leopards, everything is much more complicated, the crew on the battlefield will definitely not be able to cope with such damage. German cars have a different transmission. It is almost impossible to evacuate such a tank from the battlefield, since it weighs under seventy tons. Even if you fit a tractor to it, on which it could be loaded, then at least it is necessary that there is no fire impact. In a combat situation, nothing can be done. All. The tank was blown up, the crew must leave.
After the battle, if the territory remained behind the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then they can return for it in order to evacuate it and repair the damage somewhere at the repair base. But during the fire impact, such a vehicle becomes a stationary target, even if the gun is not damaged, and the tank can fire. Further, it is not difficult to finally destroy the tank with an anti-tank guided missile or other ammunition, infantry, aviation or artillery forces.
– The channels write that the enemy uses “smart” German mines DM31 to mine the approaches of our armored vehicles. What are these mines?
– This is one of the varieties of mines that are installed by remote mining. That is, the mine flies out of the cassette, hits the ground, stabilizers work in it so that it takes a vertical position. And then for such mines, everything already depends on which target sensor is installed on them. If electromagnetic, then it will only work on the presence of some kind of magnetic body above it or nearby at a certain distance.
If the sensor is vibration, then it will respond to the movement of equipment and ground vibrations. Sometimes even at a distance of several tens of meters. Such a mine jumps out of the ground and, if it has a homing head, then it will look for a target. Such a mine will not work on a sapper.
There used to be similar anti-personnel mines, they were used in Afghanistan in the 80s. They also had a vibration sensor that reacts to vibrations when a person approaches. But in this case, it is not advisable to install such a sensor on an anti-tank mine.
It is almost impossible to clear such mines, as a sapper approaches them with a mine detector, which creates an electromagnetic field that can be triggered by a sensor.
There are also anti-aircraft mines that fire in response to a mounted photocell. If an object enters the field of view of this photocell, it gives a signal and the mine flies out of the pipe. Almost like a grenade launcher.
– How can such mines be cleared?
– They are usually not cleared. As a rule, such mines self-destruct, maximum – after three days they are destroyed on their own. Therefore, they are thrown directly only in places where the enemy breaks through. They are not installed in advance because the situation at the front can be unstable: today they attack us, and tomorrow we will. It turns out that you have to go through your own minefield.
Some write that such mines are destroyed by a shot from a distance of 80 meters, but, in my opinion, this is complete nonsense. How can you see a mine in the ground from 80 meters? 80 meters is a football field, the mine lies in the ground, and not on smooth asphalt. That is, you must see a mine, shoot at it and hit it. I don’t think it’s possible.
