Russian restaurateurs began to lure migrant workers

Newspaper “News” reports that Russian restaurateurs have begun to actively recruit migrant workers from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
According to the publication, against the backdrop of a shortage of specialists that has developed over the past year due to rising exchange rates and rising prices for air travel, chains have begun to actively attract cooks, waiters, couriers and order pickers. Thus, one of the domestic restaurants placed an advertisement on Kyrgyz television about attracting restaurant and kitchen staff to work in establishments in the Russian Federation, and another chain hired a job selector in the CIS countries.
According to hh.ru’s chief expert on the labor market and head of the portal’s client efficiency department, Natalya Danina, working personnel are the leader in terms of shortage levels, and employers actually have no one to choose from. The expert noted that they have to compete for the same people not only in their industry, but also with companies from related industries.
Danina added that competition leads to a forced increase in wages. The expert clarified that since the beginning of the year, companies have indexed payments to shortage staff by 16%, and the demand for cooks, waiters and other catering personnel has increased by 75%.
