Russian Railways plans to complete the construction of a high-speed train by 2027

The construction of a high-speed train of domestic production should be completed by 2027, said the general director of the Russian Railways holding (Russian Railways) Oleg Belozerov.

“We are currently building a high-speed train. And on behalf of the President, we plan that in 2027 we will have a high-speed train of the next generation,” said Belozerov on the TV show “Picture of the World” on the channel “Culture” (quote from TASS).

According to the head of Russian Railways, a detailed “painting” of the upcoming stages of train production has been developed so far. Belozerov announced his readiness to build a high-speed highway (HSR): “Now is the time,” he added.

In February, it became known that the Sinara group can be concessionaire of the main section of the Moscow-Petersburg high-speed line, replacing the Siemens. As Kommersant wrote with reference to the studied documents Russian Railwaysthe holding, together with Sinara, is working on an organizational and legal model for the interaction of participants in the concession, we are talking about “the distribution of the financial burden and arising obligations.”

In the spring of 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to design the high-speed line to St. Petersburg. The construction project was agreed in 2021, it involves reducing travel time between cities to two hours and 15 minutes. In December 2021, the Ministry of Transport estimated the cost of building high-speed lines at almost 1.4 trillion rubles. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2027.

In 2020 Siemens, “Ural Locomotives” and “Sinara” agreed to create a train for high-speed lines. In 2021, the development contract was signed Russian Railways and Siemens. The head of the board of directors of Sinara-Transport Machines, Alexander Misharin, said that Ural Locomotives will produce a train with a speed of 400 km/h by 2028.
