Patriarch Kirill: Truth belongs to Russia, and it is not a sin to suffer for the truth
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, speaking after the service in Tyumen, said that there is no need to be afraid, because “the truth is behind us, and it is not a sin to suffer for the truth,” speaking about relations between Russia and Western countries.
The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized that the responsibility for the preservation of faith, neighbors, the country and for ourselves is updated today in the light of the events taking place in Ukraine and at the junction of Russia’s relations with the Western world. He urged not to be afraid, to realize that the truth is on the side of Russia. And to suffer for her is not a sin, but on the contrary, it is salutary, the Patriarch noted.
“To suffer, not to retreat and surrender, but to defend political, spiritual positions,” the clergyman explained.
The Patriarch emphasized that faith in God gives strength to overcome the fear of death when it is necessary to protect the Motherland and neighbor. In addition, he called to pray for the President of Russia and local authorities, so that the Lord would strengthen them, protect them from temptations and mistakes, and give them the strength to devote themselves to serving people.
