For the use of obscene language during the match, Russian handball players will be fined. This decision was made by the National Handball Federation. Now, for a swear word, athletes will either receive a red card or a two-minute suspension.
The head of the national Federation, Sergei Shishkarev, spoke about the innovations in an interview with TASS. He explained the decision by the fact that handball matches are becoming more popular and they are more often filmed on mobile phones. Therefore, according to the sports official, emotions on the court should not splash out in a prohibited format.
The Russian handball championship started on September 1. It will last 9 months. For almost 20 years, the Chekhov Bears team from the Moscow region has been the champions of Russia in this sport. Last season, CSKA won the first place.
