Russian gamers began to play less on consoles and more on mobile devices

In 2022, the share of Russian gamers playing video games on consoles dropped to 17%, which is 10 percentage points less than it was in 2021. At the same time, the number of people playing games on mobile devices increased from 81% to 85%. Among women, mobile games are gaining particular popularity, their share increased from 42% to 45% last year. This was reported in a study by VK Play, which is at the disposal of Kommersant.
The most popular for mobile devices are puzzles, virtual board and racing games, as well as shooters. Simulation, action and strategy games are not included in the top games for mobile devices. On consoles, gamers most often play racing, fighting games, and shooters, while survival games, horror, and card games are less interesting to the audience. Among console players, 65% are male and 35% are female, with the largest age group being 25 to 34 (39%). The share of PC gamers remained about the same at 63%, but the number of women increased from 34% to 40%. Among computer players, shooters, racing and action games are popular. Horror and survival games are also losing interest in the computer audience.
