Russian Foreign Ministry warned Moldova against strengthening support for Ukraine

Russia warns Moldova against becoming more deeply involved in providing support to Ukraine, which would turn Chisinau into an accomplice in Kyiv’s war crimes. This is stated in comments Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

According to her, Western countries continue to actively draw Moldova into the conflict in Ukraine, despite the neutral status enshrined in the constitution of this country, as well as supply weapons and equipment.

Moldova, Zakharova notes, continues to turn into a “logistics appendage” of Ukraine, while Russia is concerned about the data on the discussion of the delivery of military goods through the territory of the republic. The Foreign Ministry also draws attention to the active work to improve the critical rail and road infrastructure of Moldova, which is under the close attention of the US and the EU.

“In this regard, I would like to warn the official Chisinau against a deeper involvement in the process of “supporting” Ukraine, which will not only jeopardize stability and security in the region, but will actually turn Moldova into an accomplice in the war crimes of the Kiev regime,” Zakharova said.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that the consular department of the Russian Embassy, ​​the number of which was reduced at the request of the Moldovan authorities, resumed its work on August 17 and will make every effort to provide the necessary consular services.

Earlier, Moldova decided to withdraw from the agreement on the principles of providing the border troops of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) with weapons and military equipment. In total, during the spring session, the Moldovan Parliament denounced eight agreements with the CIS. Six other projects on the denunciation of agreements with the CIS have been registered in the parliament and will be considered by the deputies.

On July 26, Chisinau decided to reduce the number of staff of the Russian embassy in the republic and announced the expulsion of 45 people. On August 2, Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nikolay Popescu said that Moldova’s decision to reduce the number of staff at the Russian embassy in the republic is a response to Moscow’s policy. The Kremlin then said that Chisinau deliberately brings relations with Russia “in a very miserable state” and the country’s leadership “cuts all the ropes.”
