Foreign Ministry urged Russians to weigh all the risks of visiting Albania
On the eve of the summer vacation season, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded the citizens of the Russian Federation that Albania was included in the list of states unfriendly to Russia. The Foreign Ministry urged the Russians, when planning summer trips, to take into account all the pros and cons of visiting Albania.
As noted on official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Albania has excluded Russia from the list of states whose citizens can visit this country without a visa. In addition, the ministry recalls the risks associated with personal security issues.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recorded cases of discrimination against Russians in Albania up to expulsion from the country or criminal prosecution under far-fetched pretexts.
In addition, there are known cases of the death of Russian tourists in Albania under circumstances that have not been fully clarified.
Given the position of the Albanian authorities in relation to the Russian Federation, the possibilities of the Foreign Ministry to provide diplomatic assistance to the Russians are limited, the ministry warned.
In 2021, a summer visa-free regime was introduced for citizens of the Russian Federation in Albania, which lasted from May 1 to September 30. However, in accordance with the new procedure for entering this country, Russians are required to issue visas.
Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Alexei Pushkov noted that Albania joined the sanctions regime against Russia as a result of coercion – under pressure from the United States.
