Russian Foreign Ministry: decisions in Kyiv are not made by Zelensky

The words of US President Joe Biden about the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a counteroffensive confirm that decisions in Kyiv are not made by President Vladimir Zelensky, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at the briefing.
“So who decides what happens on Bankovaya? We understand that it is not Zelensky, although he pretends to make these decisions. Well no. The President of the United States has just spoken about what awaits him in the spring, ”she said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Zakharova also added that the increase in the supply of offensive weapons to Kyiv indicates that the conflict between NATO and Russia is developing on the rise, and Western countries want to inflict the greatest damage on the Russian Federation.
The fact that the conflict in Ukraine is developing in an ascending spiral was also said earlier in the Kremlin. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 20 that Western countries are committed to a “dramatic” delusion about the possibility of the Ukrainian side to succeed on the battlefield. According to him, this is a delusion of the West, “which will make you regret it many times over.” He noted that this leads to the fact that the conflict in Ukraine “degrades” and provokes additional tension “in an upward spiral.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the conditions for peace talks proposed earlier by Zelensky “absurd”. According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Ukrainian leader’s ten-point “peace formula” contains “everything possible.” At the same time, Russia is ready to respond to serious proposals for negotiations with Ukraine, but so far it has not received any, Lavrov added.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is open to negotiations. At the same time, Ukraine has a document preventing their resumption. On October 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin is its president.
