The head of Sberbank German Gref said that the Russian economy cannot be rebuilt in a short time, as it is highly integrated into the world. In his opinion, in 2023 the Russian economy can grow by 2%.
“I said that such a scenario is possible (“Pipe to the East” – “b”), and of course it still remains. The Russian economy is generally very strongly integrated into the world economy, and it is impossible and unnecessary to rebuild it in a short time,” Mr. Gref said in a conversation with RBC.
German Gref noted that Russia produces a number of goods in a volume that is impossible to master in the domestic market. “Therefore, of course, we will remain an export-oriented country,” he said. However, in his opinion, the question of how Russia will be able to use the potential of domestic demand remains open.
Mr. Herman also said that Sberbank does not expect stagnation in the economy. “Our forecast for this year is that the economy will end up growing. It is still difficult to say how, but our forecast is about 2%, and this is a good result,” he said. In his opinion, within two years the Russian economy will fully recover.
