Russian Drafts Championship for the Blind Opens in Kostroma

The Regional Committee for Physical Culture and Sports informs that today, April 5, the Russian Drafts Championship among blind and visually impaired athletes is starting in Kostroma. The competition will last for two weeks – from April 5 to April 18 – and will be held at the Snegurochka Hotel, where the championship participants themselves, who will come to our city from 29 regions of Russia, will also be accommodated.
The Russian Drafts Championship will be held separately for women and men in several disciplines: Russian drafts simple, Russian drafts – fast game, Russian checkers – lightning game (B1), Russian checkers – lightning game.
Among the participants of the current championship there will be 2 grandmasters of Russia in drafts among the blind: Dmitry Andreev (Kostroma region) and Lyubov Volkova ((Bryansk region), as well as 9 masters of sports and winners and prize-winners of all-Russian and international tournaments. These are members of the Russian national drafts team – Ivan Smurkov (Yaroslavl region), Emil Galiev (Samara region), Victoria Arkhipova (Leningrad region), Yeldyz Gataullina, Mikhail Krylov (Republic of Tatarstan) The official opening of the championship will be held at the Snegurochka Hotel on April 6 at 10 am.
