Russian track cyclist Sergei Rostovtsev received neutral status, as stated in a message published on the official website of the International Cycling Union (UCI).
It is noted that thanks to this, the 26-year-old Russian athlete received permission to compete at international competitions. In 2021, Rostovtsev became the European champion in the elimination race, and he is also a bronze medalist at the world championship in the same year.
The fact that Russians will be allowed to participate in UCI tournaments in a neutral status became known on May 3 of this year. The Union indicated that athletes will be able to participate in the World Cup, Nations Cup and World Championships individually, without having any associations with the Russian Federation, the national federation or the national Olympic committee. To participate, athletes and coaches must fill out a special form.
