40 kilograms of wild dried sea cucumber worth one and a half million rubles were found on a passenger of a regular ship in the Amur region. As the Federal Customs Service of Russia said, a 47-year-old Chinese citizen tried to take out a strategically important biological resource in Heihe, hiding it in his luggage among his personal belongings.
At first, the passenger stated that he was not transporting anything, and then admitted that he was carrying sea cucumber and planned to make medicine from it.
The Federal Customs Service reminded that wild sea cucumber is prohibited for export abroad. Cultivated in original packaging can be exported, but up to five kilograms and with store receipts. In excess of this norm, declaration and payment of customs duties are required.
In connection with smuggling, customs officers opened a criminal case. The Chinese citizen is under house arrest and faces up to seven years in prison.
