Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin completed their spacewalk. They spent 7 hours and 54 minutes there, reports “Roskosmos”.
astronauts came out into outer space at 4:41 today, April 19th. For Mr. Prokopiev, this was the fourth spacewalk in his career, for Mr. Petelin – the second.
While in space, they transferred a radiator to the Nauka multi-purpose laboratory module (MLM), which is needed to remove thermal loads from the MLM. The transfer was carried out using the ERA manipulator, which was controlled by cosmonaut Andrei Fedyaev from the International Space Station (ISS).
This was their first spacewalk in 2023 and after a depressurization in the Russian Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft that occurred in December 2022. Then, in the Russian spacecraft Soyuz MS-22, which was supposed to return Prokopyev and Petelin to Earth, the external circuit of the cooling system was depressurized. Presumably, this happened due to the impact of a sporadic meteorite. March 28 ship landed in Kazakhstan without a crew. Astronauts are expected will return to Earth in September. They will spend at least 370 days in orbit, which will be a new record for the ISS.
