Russian cosmonauts interrupt spacewalk due to spacesuit problems

Cosmonaut Oleg Artemiev lost his spacesuit battery during a spacewalk. He urgently returned to the airlock compartment of the ISS. Soon his partner Denis Matveev was recalled to the station. Roskosmos called the situation under control.

Cosmonaut Denis Matveev after that continued extravehicular work for some time. Then the MCC decided to terminate the spacewalk ahead of schedule. Matveev was also ordered to return to the ISS airlock.

Artemiev and Matveev at 16:53 Moscow time today, August 17, opened the exit hatch of the Poisk module on the Russian segment of the ISS and began to climb out onto the outer surface of the station. They had to deal with the integration of the European manipulator ERA into the station. According to the plan, the Russians were supposed to stay in outer space for 6 hours and 44 minutes.
