Russian companies will receive state subsidies for youth employment

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree subsidizing the hiring of all unemployed citizens under 30, according to government website. Previously, organizations could receive state support only when certain categories of citizens under 30 were employed.
“The government continues to work to support the labor market. It was decided to expand the program of subsidizing hiring, extending it to all unemployed citizens up to 30 years old, ”the website says.
The Recruitment Subsidy Program has been in place since March 2021. According to it, organizations received payments for the employment of the unemployed and 2020 graduates. In March of this year, the program was expanded to include categories of citizens under 30 years old: college and university graduates without work experience, young people without secondary vocational or higher education, disabled people, orphans, parents of minor children. The subsidy is equal to three minimum wages, increased by the district coefficient, the amount of insurance premiums and the number of employed.
The amount that employers will receive under the expanded program will be calculated according to the same scheme. Minimum wage from June 1 – 15,279 rubles. The company will receive the first subsidy one month after employment, the second one three months later, and the third one six months later.
Also, based on the decision, those citizens who are at risk of dismissal in the current one do not need to be registered under the status of unemployed.
August 19 Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Russia Elena Mukhtiyarova informed about the historical minimum of the unemployment rate in Russia – 3.9%. According to Rosstat, in the period May-June, the figure was – 3.9%, according to preliminary data for the second quarter of this year – 4%. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova said on August 19 that the number of officially registered unemployed in Russia had decreased to 675,000 from July 25 to August 15—by more than 6,000 people. An increase in the unemployment rate is expected in the autumn.
