Russian citizen arrested in Thailand for exceeding visa term by 993 days

The Thai newspaper The Phuket Express, citing police information, reported the detention of a Russian citizen on Koh Phangan whose visa was overdue by 993 days, or almost three years.
“Recently, the island’s immigration officers arrested a 34-year-old Russian citizen (name not disclosed) during his vacation at a local resort,” the newspaper shared the information.
It is reported that the Russian was taken to the Koh Phangan police station, where he was charged with illegal stay in the country. The violator-record holder will be deported.
