State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that cars made in Russia would be assigned to deputies in constituencies. This issue will be discussed at a meeting of the State Duma Council on September 18. According to him, this approach “will help the development of the domestic auto industry.”
According to Mr. Volodin, the deputies also discussed with the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation the issue of providing the State Duma with official vehicles in Moscow. “We agreed that as the cars are retired, they will be replaced only with domestic brands. The leaders of the political factions supported this decision as well,” assures the Chairman of the State Duma.
August 3 Vladimir Putin Meets with the head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov. The president was critical of the initiative to focus on foreign-made cars and said that “all this bureaucracy” should strive to develop domestic brands.
